Exhibition in Waalwijk  One Last Weekend

For an entire month, my work has been on display at Huis van Waalwijk. A special place for me, especially because I live and work in Waalwijk.

Over the past few weeks, I have received many wonderful reactions from visitors. One comment in particular stayed with me:

“I experience your paintings completely differently in person than I do in photos. You can see so much more texture and layering.”

That is exactly what I hope people experience when they see my work in real life. A photograph captures a painting, but standing in front of it allows you to discover the layers, textures and details that become visible up close.

During the exhibition, someone also asked me: “Could it be that we have one of your works hanging in our home?” How special it is to realise that my paintings have found their way into people’s homes.

And of course, it is always incredibly rewarding when someone decides to take one of my works home with them after seeing it in person.

In my work, women are at the centre. I explore themes such as identity, vulnerability, strength and the way we look at one another. Through strong contrasts between light and dark, expressive lines, texture and sometimes gold leaf, I try to capture more than just a face — I want to reveal something of the person behind it.

One Last Weekend to Visit

The exhibition is now coming to an end. This weekend is the final opportunity to see my work at Huis van Waalwijk.

You are welcome on Saturday and Sunday from 1:00 to 5:00 PM. Please note that one Sunday the location will be closed due to a large event.
